Job Description
Our client is seeking an Aerospace Engineer to perform structural analysis and support the development of aircraft components , with a focus on structural integrity and certification. This role involves leading specific analysis tasks, coordinating across disciplines, and mentoring junior engineers. The successful candidate will have strong experience with FEA tools and a solid understanding of aerospace structural principles.
Responsibilities:
Perform structural analysis for aircraft components using FEA software (e.g., ANSYS Workbench, ANSYS APDL, or Nastran) and hand calculations.
Conduct material and structural concept trade studies to optimize designs.
Lead detailed analysis and documentation for structural integrity to support testing and certification.
Define and execute verification methods, including component, system-level, and airplane-level testing.
Evaluate fatigue life and durability using strain-life based methods (e.g., HBM nCode DesignLife).
Present analysis results to internal and external customers, ensuring clarity and technical accuracy.
Support loads and usage spectrum development and data collection methods.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet all requirements.
Key Must Have’s:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
Minimum 3 years of experience in structural analysis for aerospace applications.
Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using ANSYS Workbench, ANSYS APDL, or Nastran.
Experience with metallic material analysis, fatigue analysis, including strain-life methods and tools like HBM nCode DesignLife.
2 years of experience with SolidWorks for solid modeling and knowledge of other industry modeling formats.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
US Citizen or permanent residents ONLY.
Ability to pass NACI background checks with favorable outcomes (mandatory).
Must work on-site at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.
Travel: Not much anticipated (but there could be travel to/from gov’t installations)

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with aerospace landing gear systems or hydraulic actuators.
Programming experience in Python, FORTRAN, C/C++, or MATLAB.
Optimization experience or familiarity with fracture mechanics.
Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E and MIL-STD-1530D.
