Join Our Air Cargo Team at Kansas City International Airport

Picture this: the day starts on the cargo dock at Kansas City International Airport, where precision and pace go hand-in-hand. As an Air Cargo Warehouse Operations Associate, you’ll scan, label, and route customer packages with care so every item is tracked accurately in our inventory system and ready for shipment or delivery.

Compensation: $17/hr

What a Typical Shift Looks Like

You’ll move between scanning stations and freight areas, using handheld barcode scanners to verify product information and apply correct labels. You’ll physically process cargo, load and unload pallets and packages, and move items to the right locations in the warehouse. Throughout the shift, you collaborate with teammates to hit daily scanning and packing targets while following safety protocols and standard operating procedures. If a package is damaged or a discrepancy appears, you’ll alert leadership and help ensure the right documentation is applied to the correct freight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manually load and unload cargo in a fast-paced warehouse environment
  • Operate handheld barcode scanners to process incoming and outgoing packages
  • Verify item details by scanning barcodes and confirming accuracy
  • Apply labels as required to ensure correct shipment
  • Maintain high scanning accuracy to reduce shipment and receiving errors
  • Stage and move packages to proper warehouse locations
  • Work closely with teammates to achieve daily scanning and packing goals
  • Follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Report issues or discrepancies promptly to leadership
  • Inspect damaged packages and communicate findings to leadership
  • Handle and store cargo according to safety regulations
  • Ensure proper documentation is matched to the correct freight
  • Participate in training covering freight handling, safety, and compliance
  • Keep freight handling areas clean and organized
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a positive, safety-first attitude
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Previous warehouse or inventory experience is a plus
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English, including work documents
  • Comfortable accessing and interpreting information in print and electronically; able to use iPads/Tablets, computers, and mobile devices
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients in person and through electronic channels
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Eligible to obtain necessary credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
  • Flexible to work various shifts that rotate every 3–4 months, including nights, weekends, and holidays (airlines operate 24/7)
