Associate Creative Director

We are currently seeking applicants for the role of
Associate Creative Director . As the Associate Creative Director, you will work within our internal agency, concepting and executing content that you might actually want to share with your friends. Though we sell grooming goods, we don’t talk about grooming ad nauseum. Frankly, we’d rather talk about proper mowing lines, shower beer protocol, or the fact that cornhole should be the next Olympic sport. We write memes about safety goggles and the aftermath of drive-thru burritos. We celebrate veterans and the virtue of hard work, but we keep things light. We create content that attracts and retains a group of good folks who love the Duke Cannon Brand and occasionally buy our products.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Campaign Concepting and Copywriting: Let’s set the table here. This role is not for someone who intends to just approve or reject creative. We run a lean operation and produce a ton of work (about 90% of it is developed in house). As such, we need creatives at all levels to roll up their sleeves to generate concepts and write great copy across a variety of media—social, CTV, web, print, and even packaging.
- Creative Team Stewardship: Of course, you don’t need to come up with all the ideas on your own. You’ll help manage an internal team that currently consists of a Copywriter, Designer, and Visual Content Specialist (think photo/video), as well as the occasional freelancer. You will work with our PMs to organize their work, make it better, and provide the coaching to maintain a well-oiled machine that generates the type of content other agencies use as “best in class” examples.
- Innovation and Inspiration: Keep the team’s creative energy sharp by introducing new ideas, formats, and references that keep Duke Cannon’s output feeling fresh and ahead of the curve.
- Pitching and Presentation: Confidently present concepts to internal stakeholders, articulating the “why” behind the work and rallying teams around great creative ideas.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, sales, product, and packaging teams to meet deadlines, move the needle, and—above all—make cool sh*t. Translate business objectives, marketing insights, and fragrance/product strategy into creative ideas that move the brand forward while driving measurable results.
QUALIFICATIONS: - 8+ years of experience in creative field as an ACD or Sr. Copywriter—either in-house or at an agency
- Experience managing small (1-5 employees) teams
- Exceptional copywriting skills
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
- Portfolio site showing a body of past advertising / content work
- Current on social media trends, familiar with leading platforms, and how consumers interact with them
- Proven ability to generate ideas for various media formats
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to pull together various data points into a recommendation or conclusion
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Comfortable in an ever-changing environment and willing to go beyond the status quo
- Proven record of solving problems and the ability to drive work forward with little direction

SALARY AND BENEFITS Duke Cannon offers a competitive market salary and bonus based on role and professional experience. The salary range for this position is $100,000- $130,000. Our benefits are top-notch and include health & dental insurance, HSA and 401k programs supported by regular company contributions, a tuition reimbursement program, and monthly parking stipend.
