Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Controls or Automation Engineer to design, develop, and maintain control systems used in industrial automation processes. The ideal candidate will have experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols, and will play a critical role in optimizing efficiency, safety, and reliability across production or process systems. The position reports to the Senior Manufacturing Engineer Manager and is expected to support the future needs of the manufacturing organization through implementation of the latest manufacturing intelligence in our plant.

Danfoss Turbocor (DTC) is the pioneer and market leader for oil-free centrifugal compressors and is transforming the commercial HVAC chiller market with highest efficiency through innovative technology.

This position is onsite based in our Turbocor Global Headquarters.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems.
• Develop, test, and implement control strategies for machinery and equipment.
• Integrate and maintain SCADA systems for monitoring and data acquisition.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to define system requirements and functional specifications.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, and operating manuals.
• Perform system commissioning, including startup support and system validation.
• Diagnose issues in existing control systems and implement timely solutions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
• Working knowledge of CAD, 2D and 3D MS Office suite Siemens PLC required
• Work closely with the global IT team to implement the MES system while acting as the Voice of Manufacturing from DTC
• Support team goals to delivery our operations KPIS on safety, quality delivery and cost
• Keep Machine availability >90 and productivity rates above 10%
• Consulted Robotics Definitions, programming, sustaining.
• Siemens SIT Contingency plan to ensure fast response in case of failure.

Background & Skills

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering, implementing site wide PLC control standardization within a factory environment.
• Proficiency with PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
• Familiarity with HMI/SCADA software (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, WinCC).
• Understanding of industrial networks (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• 2+ years in an Industrial/Manufacturing operations role with supervisory
• Nice to have years working with MES systems, specifically with SIT/Ops Center and/or Critical Manufacturing

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with robotics, vision systems, or motion control.
• Knowledge of P&IDs, control loop tuning, and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, C, Ladder Logic, Structured Text).
• Experience with FDA/GMP regulations (for pharmaceutical or food industries).
• Project management or leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications and schematics.
• Strong interpersonal skills to influence decision making with or without authority,
• Results-driven who is fearless about execution.
• A strong team player who supports their team and embraces ownership,
• Able to identify problems and leverage a structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause..
• Able to work flexible schedules occasionally to accommodate global work teams
