As a family-owned business with a global footprint, we foster a supportive culture that values curiosity, creativity, and continuous learning. If you're ready to grow your career with a team that cares deeply about its people and its purpose—this is your moment. Explore the opportunity below and discover how you can make a difference at Dober.

Job Summary

A Chemical Process Engineer at Dober will lead meaningful work, grow quickly, and help shape the future of our manufacturing operations. You won’t just optimize systems—you’ll help build a high-performance culture centered on safety, quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. This role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting manufacturing processes while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

This is an opportunity for an engineer with strong technical fundamentals and experience in chemical manufacturing to take a bigger swing: influencing cross-functional projects, owning key scale-up and optimization work, and helping translate our ambitious “Operations 2030” vision into reality.

Key Responsibilities

Process Design & Scale Up:

  • Lead and support the development, scale-up, and optimization of chemical processes from lab and pilot to commercial production.
  • Develop process flow diagrams, mass and energy balances, and equipment sizing for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with vendors and external partners to select, test, and scale key unit operations and equipment.

Process Optimization & Manufacturing Support:

  • Monitor and improve ongoing plant performance to drive yield, reduce variability, and increase throughput.
  • Troubleshoot process issues using structured problem-solving methodologies and statistical analysis.
  • Support equipment commissioning, process validation, and technology transfer at both internal and partner sites.

Built-In Quality & Safety:

  • Develop and maintain SOPs, in-process control plans, and standardized documentation that support zero-defect, safe manufacturing.
  • Apply mistake-proofing (poka-yoke) and other quality tools to ensure consistent product outcomes.
  • Develop and implement instrumentation, control charts, rules and responses for in process controls systems (SPC).
  • Reinforce Dober’s proactive safety culture through engineered safeguards, risk identification, and team member training.

Lean & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead or participate in Lean initiatives including 5S, value stream mapping, and waste elimination across labs and production.
  • Identify improvement opportunities through data, engage cross-functional teams, and implement scalable solutions.
  • Contribute to a culture of daily improvement and idea generation, helping others see and solve problems effectively.

Digital Fluency & Project Leadership:

  • Use digital tools (e.g., SPC dashboards, Asana, AI-driven systems) to monitor processes, track progress, and enhance decision-making.
  • Document and manage technical project workstreams in a structured, deadline-oriented way.
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, supply chain, and commercial teams to drive strategic execution.

Collaboration & Support:

  • Work cross-functionally with maintenance, quality, safety, and R&D teams.
  • Support the introduction of new products and technologies into manufacturing.
  • Provide on-the-floor engineering support and technical training as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (required).
  • 0–5 years of related experience in a chemical manufacturing or process engineering role (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply).
  • Basic understanding of process engineering principles, including fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and mass balance.
  • Familiarity with chemical safety practices, hazard analysis, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic process simulation software (e.g., Aspen, ChemCAD) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of GMP, ISO, or other quality system standards preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily office-based with regular time spent on the plant floor.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE and work safely in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs), standing, or walking in production areas.
