We are seeking a dynamic and analytical Cost Accountant to join our team on a consulting contract basis. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our Engineering industry, providing critical financial insight to help shape our business decisions. This role is more than just crunching numbers - it's about understanding our operations, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting our management team in making strategic decisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting and finance, with a particular focus on ERP implementation and monthly reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement cost standards for materials and labor.
• Prepare detailed reports on the costs of business activities, including periodic financial and expense reports.
• Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
• Analyze production costs and recommend changes.
• Oversee the ERP implementation process, ensuring all financial aspects are accurately represented and effectively integrated.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for senior management, providing clear and concise insight into cost trends and projections.
• Collaborate with various teams (production, procurement, design, etc.) to analyze costs and streamline procedures.
• Participate in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, integrating detailed cost data to provide more accurate financial projections.
• Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses.
• Review and reconcile inventory and margin reports.
• Investigate and report to the Manager any inconsistencies or improprieties.
• Analyze data collected and recording results.
• Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
• Analyze audits of costs and prepare reports.
• Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
• Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting in an industrial setting, preferably in the Engineering industry.
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is highly desirable.
• Strong experience with ERP systems, including implementation and management.
• Proven experience in preparing monthly reports and financial analysis.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about business problems.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to write and implement financial policies and procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, demonstrating a sense of urgency and results orientation.
