As a requirement the candidate must possess an MD, MD-PhD or equivalent. Their research should be largely laboratory and translational in nature, with their research portfolio and funding focused on prostate cancer. They will demonstrate a strong history of peer-reviewed research funding and publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and in addition a track record in leading and managing large research projects/collaborations beyond their own laboratory. A demonstrated track record in and commitment to mentoring early-career scientists, and the ability to communicate effectively with external stakeholders are also prerequisites.
UCSF offers a highly competitive startup package. As Director of the BIPCR, the selected candidate will be appointed as the George and Judy Marcus Distinguished Professor. Candidates with the appropriate qualifications may also be considered for leadership roles in the UCSF Prostate Cancer SPORE (NCI P50 Grant) and/or the HDFCCC Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG, NCI P30 Grant)-funded Prostate Cancer Program.
