Job Description

We are seeking a Director, Government Relations to develop and manage a comprehensive state and local government affairs campaign for Honeywell and Advanced Materials.

This position will be based in Washington, DC at Honeywell's Global Government Relations headquarters and operate on a hybrid work schedule. The role involves frequent travel (up to 50%) within the supporting region and other key State Capitals, as needed.

The Director of State and Local Government Relations will drive the adoption of legislation that supports Honeywell's products.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage multi-state legislative campaigns.
  2. Coordinate a cross-functional team spanning legal, commercial, communications, regulatory, R&D, product stewardship, and sales functions, as well as outside public affairs consultants.
  3. Represent the Company before administrative, regulatory, legislative, and executive levels of state government, and in some cases, local jurisdictions.
  4. Identify, analyze, and report on legislative and regulatory issues that could impact the business, and recommend courses of action.
  5. Establish and maintain effective relationships with regulators, elected officials, civil servants, and other stakeholders.
  6. Develop and collaborate on producing high-quality written materials, including recommendations, briefings, publications, presentations, and collateral to communicate complex messages clearly to government stakeholders.
  7. Coordinate strategy with consultants and trade associations to ensure active engagement aligned with Honeywell's business strategies.
  8. Organize and facilitate communication with Honeywell senior leadership, including meetings, briefings, and campaign reviews.
  9. Participate and assume leadership roles in industry-related associations and networking organizations to promote company interests.

The annual base salary range is $206K - $257.5K . Salary offers will consider experience, education, skills, and market factors.

In October 2024, Honeywell announced the spin-off of its Advanced Materials business into a new independent company, Solstice Advanced Materials , expected in late 2025 or early 2026. This role is intended to be part of that future organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's and/or advanced degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Chemistry, Engineering, or comparable experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in State Government Relations.
  • Familiarity with energy and chemical regulatory policies, legislative and regulatory trends, and technical details.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in multi-state advocacy and educational efforts.
  • Ability to interact with key stakeholders in the policy environment.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication skills.
