Adventure Dog Handler ($15-19/hr)

 

Job Purpose

As the "private school of doggy daycare" we aim to provide structured physical and mental enrichment as well as unstructured free-play to dogs. The Adventure Daycare Program’s top priorities are convenience for the owners and safety for their dogs. Our handlers allow us to provide clients with a more engaging and stimulating approach to traditional dog daycare.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Handlers pick-up and drop-off dogs on their assigned routes in a safe and timely manner. Appropriate conduct and thoughtful communication with the WolfPack Team and dog parents is expected at all times.

Handlers ensure that they will properly utilize and be equipped with the tools provided. Up to and including:

• work belt, clips, leashes, poop bags, slip leads, flat collars, prong/pinch collars, harnesses, head harnesses, backpacks, dog harness bag, and collapsible dog bowls

Handlers will learn and understand the basics of canine training. This includes:

• loose leash walking, proper corrections, proper sit and stay protocol, canine communication.

This is vital while adventuring with dogs on public or private hiking trails and on walking paths.

Handlers pick up poop! During adventures poop bags are used, and at daycare a dog poop scoop is used. Proper disposal of the waste is required and expected.

 

Handlers supervise dogs at during free-play and must recognize unwanted behaviors (e.g. overbearing play, mounting, aggression), and correct the dog’s behavior accordingly. Handlers are accountable for intervening before escalation of behaviors.

Handlers may be asked to assist with other sanitization or other miscellaneous tasks (cars, kennels, etc.)

 

Qualifications

Physically fit enough to lift up to 50 lbs.

Physically fit enough to walk, climb and stand.

Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Willing to learn and work as a team.

Good attitude.

Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
