Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned) Works with geo-scientists and reservoir engineers to develop detailed objectives for all new drilling projects. Develops drilling cost estimates ranging from simple scoping estimates to probabilistic cost estimates. Reviews offset wells and identify risks and hazards, as well as best practices. Develops detailed well designs and perform casting stress calculations. Evaluates and recommends equipment and procedures of contractors and vendors as well as helps to develop and implement new technologies. Provides technical support to field operations. Monitors drilling operations according to safety and quality control standards, environmental regulations, corporate policy and contract terms. Tracks drilling costs and communicate them effectively to stakeholders. Job Responsibilities Comprehensive knowledge. Seasoned professional with advanced applied drilling engineering experience. Applies advanced skills contributing to knowledge areas within function, but not yet an expert in all. Makes recommendations on moderately complex issues regarding project components and tasks. May make recommendations on new processes, tools and services; support and contributes to development of new products, services or techniques. Works on problems of diverse scopes ranging from moderate to complex. Use independent judgment requiring in-depth analysis of variable factors. Collaborate with senior professionals in selection of methods, techniques, and analytical approach. Little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments. Serves as project/technical lead on small to medium sized projects; may coordinate the work of professionals, technicians and others outside of their own department. This is the most senior skill level without moving to the management or specialist track. Resource integrator - builds professional networks and identifies and connects resources to achieve goals. Regularly contributes actionable ideas in brainstorming and planning sessions. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent. Drilling engineering experience required. Seasoned professional; typically requires 10+ years’ experience.
