Mainline Excavator Operator – Pipe Crew

Location: St. George, SC

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Competitive, based on experience (22-28HR+)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Mainline Excavator Operator to join our pipe crew. This role is critical to the successful installation of underground utilities, including water, sewer, and storm drainage systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating excavators in trenching operations and working closely with a pipe crew in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate excavators to dig trenches for mainline pipe installation.
• Safely drag and set trench boxes in accordance with OSHA standards.
• Work closely with the pipe crew to ensure accurate trench depth, slope, and alignment.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety protocols and company procedures.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating excavators in underground utility or heavy civil construction.
• Proven ability to dig to grade and work around existing utilities.
• Experience with trench boxes and shoring systems.
• Strong understanding of job site safety and OSHA regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.

• Willingness to assist with general labor when needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Reevesville, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $32.00/hr.
