GRAPHIC DESIGNER I (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – PARK OPERATIONS / INTERPRETATION AND EDUCATION/ SACRAMENTO OR SANTA CRUZ
This is a statewide recruitment. The selected candidate can be physically located in Sacramento County or Santa Cruz County that is nearest their residence. The p osition is part of a distributed team that involves teleworking and reporting to the headquarters office or local state park district offices as needed/required.
This position will work under the State Park Interpreter III.The Watershed Graphic Designer will create interpretive media products including wayside exhibit panels, posters, digital content, and illustrations that communicate messages associated with protecting, stewarding, and ensuring safe public access to watersheds impacted by illegal cannabis cultivation. This position will utilize scientific illustration and professional design principles to develop clear, visually engaging and accessible materials and will collaborate with program staff to support the department mission through public awareness and environmental education. The ideal candidate will be a skilled science communicator with scientific illustration abilities and an understanding of visually accessible design related to wayside interpretive exhibit panels. They will model innovative approaches to developing interpretive services for the public, will thrive in an independent setting, and will work effectively with a diverse team of professionals dedicated to the mission of California State Parks. This position will be expected to travel occasionally to project locations around the state.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
This position is designated as telework eligible-remote centered.
