This role is critical to delivering the core scientific infrastructure behind advanced energy systems and is responsible for both people management and technical execution. Location: North Seattle, WA (Onsite) - Relocation assistance is available Job Type: Direct Hire Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team responsible for radiation diagnostics, simulation of nuclear environments, and associated engineering tasks. Drive the execution of core nuclear engineering deliverables, including shielding analysis, activation studies, dose modeling, and the development of diagnostic systems. Oversee team performance, lead recruitment efforts, and grow the team in alignment with technical and programmatic demands. Convert annual objectives into actionable project plans; monitor progress and ensure alignment with key organizational milestones. Foster accountability around timelines and deliverables to ensure consistent project momentum and milestone achievement. Required Qualifications: At least 3 years of experience managing technical teams in the nuclear engineering domain, including experience hiring and building high-performance groups in fast-paced, milestone-driven environments. Demonstrated expertise in neutronics modeling using simulation codes (e.g., MCNP), including variance reduction techniques and simulation validation for complex systems. Direct experience working with neutron-emitting materials and diagnostic instrumentation (e.g., scintillation detectors, helium-3 tubes, activation foil systems). A proven track record of supporting diverse team members through coaching, performance evaluations, and structured development. Competence in common management systems and tools related to personnel oversight, resource allocation, and operational compliance.
