The responsibilities of Plant Records & Garden/Grounds Assistants involve gardening and maintenance activities such as planting, weeding, mowing, and pruning. This position also requires a moderate level of computer competence. Must be willing to learn plant record and inventory software and spend a significant portion of time at a computer, as well as in the garden. Assistants work alongside Garden Curators and Grounds Staff in maintaining formal gardens, trails, and natural areas gaining valuable hands?on experience.
Required: Experience with Microsoft Excel and Teams.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Interest in and/or knowledge of plant identification is necessary.
Sitting while working on a computer for hours at a time is required when not outside. Working outside during adverse weather conditions. Physical activity including, but not limited to, mulching, weeding, raking, digging, and planting. Driving required.
Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background investigation including a criminal background check, verification of credentials, and, if applicable, a satisfactory credit check. A pre?employment drug test may be required for positions with high?risk responsibilities.
