We are looking for individuals with a few years of estimating under their belt for engineering/construction projects, that are passionate about project planning, risk management and are focused on the details, that want to grow their career in estimating and preconstruction engineering. You will work with seasoned estimators, supporting various design/build estimates for projects around the East coast, for vertical buildings that include new construction, modifications or upgrades for various types of buildings including: government buildings, historical buildings, mixed-use/commercial, higher education, healthcare, sports facilities, large private healthcare, hotels, and high-rises. Join us at Kiewit, where we go beyond engineering and construction to build the road to success! **District Overview** Kiewit Building Group specializes in vertical construction, we build office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, government buildings, science and technology facilities, retail and special-use facilities, and extensive interior construction with tenant improvements. Our capabilities include all facets of construction and engineering including general contracting, construction management, design-build, design-assist and turn-key project development. **Location** You will be required to work in our Honolulu, HI office. **Responsibilities** - Develop complete estimates for large, complex jobs. - Review owner plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project; develop plan for the actual construction to serve as basis for the estimate. - Reviewing and assisting with proposals and other documentation to prepare cost estimates - Reviews all bid and contract documents and home office legal department opinions. - Conduct site investigation prior to forming a plan of operations to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present. - Utilize engineer techniques and procedures to conduct investigation and adhere to standard company policy and procedures. - Perform design work as required by the project that is beyond the estimator scope of experience; handle any major technical problems encountered during bid preparation. - Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods and procedures that are developing in the industry. - Become proficient in Kiewit's estimating program, "InEight Estimate". - Provide leadership and strategy in subcontractor and vendor selection process - Prepare special engineering studies or reports required by certain bid items or conditions. - Consult with owners on various problems discovered during bid preparation, design, rates, schedules, etc. **Qualifications** - Undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical, electrical, civil or construction-related technology, OR if no degree, minimum of 8 years related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities used in estimating, as described above. Prior Field Engineers, Superintendents with Estimating field experience, encouraged to apply - 3+ years' related estimating experience in the engineering/construction space. Experience with resource loaded/cost loaded estimates is required, experience performing material takeoffs. - Experience must include knowledge and estimating for vertical Building projects, preferably performing design/build estimates - Exceptionally strong attention to detail, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills - Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint) and estimating software tools. - Wilingness to visit project sites for walkdowns for estimating purposes \#LI-TD28 Other Requirements: - Regular, reliable attendance - Work productively and meet deadlines timely - Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment - Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. - Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
