Seeking a Senior Aerospace Engineer to lead structural analysis and engineering efforts for aircraft components , with a focus on structural integrity, certification, and sustainment. This role involves overseeing complex analysis tasks, mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, and providing technical expertise on military airframe programs. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in aerospace structural analysis, fatigue, and fracture mechanics, with a deep understanding of military aircraft systems.

Responsibilities:

• Lead structural analysis for aircraft components, including safe-life management, fatigue failure, and fracture mechanics, using FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS Workbench, ANSYS APDL) and hand calculations.
• Oversee material and structural concept trade studies to optimize designs for various military airframes (e.g., A-10, B-1, B-2, C-130, F-15, F-16).
• Develop and document structural integrity methods for test support and certification, ensuring compliance with Air Force ASIP standards.
• Lead verification and validation efforts, including component, system-level, and airplane-level testing.
• Mentor Government and client engineers through formal and informal sessions on structural analysis principles and tools.
• Support safety probabilistic studies, including risk and economic analyses, and contribute to loads and usage spectrum development.
• Provide expertise on aerospace materials characterization, failure assessment, fatigue nucleation, and corrosion of metallic structures.
• Present complex analysis results to internal and external customers, including DoD stakeholders.
• Coordinate across disciplines to ensure designs meet all requirements.

Key Must Have’s:

• Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution (PhD preferred).
• Minimum 5 years in aerospace structural analysis including finite element analysis using ANSYS Workbench and ANSYS APDL (minimum 2 years).
• Minimum 8 years of systems engineering experience
• 5 years of experience in aerospace materials characterization, failure assessment, fatigue nucleation, fracture mechanics, and corrosion.
• 2 years of experience with material testing and allowable development for military or commercial aircraft.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks (2 years) and knowledge of other industry modeling formats.
• Experience with fatigue life evaluation using strain-life methods and HBM nCode DesignLife.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with excellent written and verbal communication.
• US Citizen or permanent residents ONLY.
• Ability to pass NACI background checks with favorable outcomes (mandatory).
• Must work on-site at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.
• 2 years of experience supporting Air Force ASIP, structures, sustainment, or program management.
• Familiarity with military airframes (e.g., A-10, B-1, B-2, B-52, C-5, C-130, F-15, F-16).

· Travel: not much anticipated (but there could be travel to/from gov’t installations)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Programming experience in Python, FORTRAN, C/C++, or MATLAB for structural analysis.
• Experience with DoD logistic support and supply chain management.
