The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Test Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate is a handson leader who can drive the quality assurance process for our software products. This role requires a strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) , with a specific focus on requirements gathering and comprehensive test plan documentation within an FDAregulated environment . This role will report to the Staff DevOps Engineer and will not have any direct reports.

The compensation range for this role is market driven, with a salary range of $130,000$180,000. Additionally, we offer a robust benefits package. This offering is aligned with our overall compensation philosophy.

Location: Hybrid (Remote & Onsite in SanMateo,CA)

A Day in the Life

  • Lead and execute the entire testing process, including creating detailed test plans, test cases, and test reports.
  • Participate in risk analysis, verification & validation (V&V) activities for FDA SaMD software applications.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (including product, development, quality, and regulatory affairs) to gather and analyze software requirements.
  • Develop and maintain robust automated and manual test suites using languages like Python or Java and test frameworks like Selenium or Cypress to build and maintain endtoend automation tests.
  • Perform crossbrowser and crossplatform manual testing for frontend web applications.
  • Execute manual functional testing for backend services.
  • Perform endtoend User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as per test plans to validate user flows, functional requirements, and user experience.
  • Integrate test automation into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins.
  • Serve as a subjectmatter expert on software quality and compliance, mentoring junior engineers and promoting best practices.
  • Analyze test results, document defects, verify bug fixes, and ensure systems meet business requirements.
  • Manage defects, track issues, and work with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on product usability and quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
  • In-depth knowledge of the FDA SaMD approval process and documentation requirements (e.g., design control, risk management).
  • Expertise in requirements analysis and translating them into comprehensive test plans and cases.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python or Java).
  • Handson experience with testing frameworks like Selenium or Cypress.
  • Experience with build automation tools like Jenkins or services like Playwright.
  • Strong understanding of test methodologies (e.g., blackbox, whitebox, regression).
  • Excellent communication, problemsolving, and leadership skills.
  • Experience in using project management tools such as Jira and Zephyr.
  • Strong understanding of agile and waterfall methodology.
