Our members come from all walks of life and professions, united by a shared commitment to serving Kansans.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • You will work hands-on with a diverse range of systems, including network infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud platforms.

  • Collaborate in shaping KPERS' IT roadmap, including a 3-Year IT Plan and Business Continuity Plan.
  • Develop and document clear, effective IT policies, procedures, and technical resources.

  • Strong expertise in network protocols (TCP/IP), security tools (firewalls, IPS/IDS), and endpoint protection.
  • Solid understanding of operating system internals, authentication systems, and security event management.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud platforms, with a knack for troubleshooting and optimizing performance.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • A team player who thrives in collaborative environments and is dedicated to delivering top-notch customer service.

Experience Required

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in software/database and hardware management. Or successful completion of 24 hours in computer science coursework or certification and three (3) years of experience in software/database and hardware management

  • Experience with authentication systems and security event management solutions.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, and security protocols.
  • Familiarity with endpoint protection tools and system hardening techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, IPS/IDS systems, and network monitoring tools.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization technologies and platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Understanding of virtual networking, resource allocation, and virtual machine lifecycle management.
  • Experience with public and hybrid cloud environments, including platform services, storage, and security features.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems using methodical troubleshooting and research.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
