Job Description

Job Title: Adult Choir Director

Reports to: Pastor/Head of Staff/Worship Committee and Pastor

Administration:

Attend all meetings appropriate to this position: staff, worship planning sessions, Adult Choir rehearsals and any other meetings requested for music planning.

All music purchased, rewritten (revised) becomes property of First Presbyterian Church.

Create and coordinate the communication as to musical activities for the Adult Choir through the Pastor/Office Administrator.

Direct the Adult Choir during weekly Sunday morning worship and special services.

Arrange for substitute director when scheduling demands so. The first option for substitute director should come within the choir/church whenever possible - utilize talent with the church as often as possible. The rate of pay for paid substitutes shall be determined annually. This recommendation with be set by the A&P Committee each year during budget formulation.

Work collaboratively with the pianist.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Music of equivalent experience.

Excellent organizational skills

Ability to work cooperatively as a part of a multiple staff team.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and meet deadlines.

Skills in conducting and vocal coaching.

Proactive and confident in problem solving or presenting recommended solutions.

Leave and Professional Development:

Four (4) Sundays will be given annually as paid vacation days. Other days approved as leave days will be without paid time off.

Arrange for paid time off with as much advance notice as possible. One-month notice is preferable whenever possible. Requests for time off should be made and granted through the pastor.

Sick days that fall outside of the four (4) paid days off will be without pay.

An annual review of performance will occur before the end of each annual contract.

Hours of work are as needed for the provision of church services and special events.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17,815.91 per year

Expected hours: 15 per week
