Tax Preparer/Tax Staff Trainer

Location: Concord, CA (Travel Required)

Salary Range: $90-105k

Full-Time, Onsite

Direct Hire

We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparer/Trainer to join a stable full-service tax firm dedicated to providing exceptional service to clients. In this dual role, you will split your time between preparing complex tax returns and training staff to ensure high-quality tax preparation processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Offer tax planning advice and conduct in-depth tax research to resolve complex issues while ensuring timely and accurate filing of tax returns.
  • Communicate with clients on tax-related matters, addressing questions and providing support as needed, while staying informed on changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Create and present training sessions on tax preparation processes and recent tax law changes, while designing onboarding programs for new tax preparers and bookkeepers.
  • Mentor junior tax professionals by providing guidance and assistance with tax preparation tasks, and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, updating materials as needed.
  • Travel to different office locations to conduct in-person training sessions and act as a resource for staff during peak tax seasons.

Key Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, handling individual, corporate, and partnership returns.
  • CPA License a plus
  • Proven experience in mentoring or staff training is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to various audiences.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines efficiently.
  • Proficient in tax software such as Lacerte and UltraTax, along with Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to travel for work-related purposes each month.
